Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is the study of altered states of consciousness. Hypnotherapy is where you use these altered states of consciousness to create therapeutic change. Another word for hypnosis is trance. Trance is not an unnatural state of mind, but rather something we as humans experience all the time. It’s a bit like daydreaming but more focused on one element. Very similar to when you are reading a book, and you get so absorbed in this particular book, and an hour has blown past, and it feels like ten minutes. When you are in his place, you become much more imaginative, and you become more open to creative choices. That is what we are looking to create with hypnosis.
We help people have more influence, more control over their internal and external processes. It is a hyper learning state where you break the barrier of limited thinking. The important thing to realize is that the power is not in the hypnotist; the power is within the client. Think of the hypnotist as a guide. Someone who is helping you harness your own power to create change.
Some of the myths and misconceptions are that your brain will be zapped or switched off, and you become some puppet. This is absolutely not the case. It can be the exact opposite. Some people will go into such a deep trance that they will forget almost everything the hypnotist says. Other people will forget portions, and other people will go the other way and hear absolutely everything the hypnotist says as if their senses have becomes heightened, hearing things in a much more profound and unique way. It doesn’t matter which way of the three you experience; you are still in a trance. We can experience trance in so many different ways, depending on who we are.
